Introduction to E-Books
Huntington Press e-books are produced in an electronic format as pdf documents. Nothing is shipped to you. Your e-book is available immediately after you complete your purchase. A confirmation page appears with the link for your download. Click on the link to go to the Download Fulfillment Web site. Follow these simple instructions to retrieve your e-book. When you click on the link, a dialog box pops up on your computer screen, asking you to save or open the document. You can save the document to your directory or you can open it up, read it in Adobe Acrobat Reader, and save it to your directory from within the Adobe application.

E-books are delivered instantaneously. You neither have to pay for packaging and postage nor wait for a printed book to be shipped. Click on the title of the e-book you wish to purchase below, finish your order, and you’ll be reading the book within seconds.

E-books can be formatted to your eyesight. On the Acrobat Reader toolbar are plus and minus adjustment buttons. Click on the plus button to enlarge the text; click on the minus button to shrink it. Between the plus and minus buttons is the text-size percentage (from 8.33% to 6400%).

E-books can be searched electronically. If you don’t already have Navigation tabs on the left side of your e-book file, you can add these. On your Menu bar, under the View options, should be the Navigation tabs options. The best tabs to navigate around the e-books are the Bookmark and Page tabs. The Bookmark tab displays the Table of Contents. From here you can click on any chapter title and the first page of that chapter appears. Click on the Pages tab to scroll quickly through the book and access any page. In addition, index entries are searchable; simply click on any page number in the index and you’re immediately at that page. Finally, any hypertext links you encounter in the e-book are active; click on them and you’ll be whisked to the appropriate Web sites.

E-Books can be corrected with a few keystrokes. When the author of an e-book wants to update, rewrite, or change the text in any way, he can do so in a matter of minutes, as opposed to months or years with a printed book. E-books you purchase from Huntington Press are updated continuously, so what you're buying now is the most up-to-date information possible.

E-books are green. Although they require a tiny amount of electricity to be read, they don't consume paper, ink, packaging, or fossil fuels to be produced and delivered.

E-books are less expensive. We pass on most of what we save in production and shipping costs to you.

Finally, e-books occupy no physical space. You don't need more book shelves. They don't collect dust. You don't need to pack them in boxes and lug them when you move. You don't need to worry about how to dispose of them when you're done with them.
Further Considerations
Reading an e-book requires an electronic device. No doubt about it: Books are warm and fuzzy. They share your most intimate places. You can take them to bed. You can read them on your La-Z-Boy or toilet. You can carry them around in your purse or pocket.
Still, you can print out e-books (you’ll still pay less for paper and printer ink than for buying and shipping a book). They won’t be bound, but they're still portable.
And once you get over whatever initial resistance you might feel for reading books on your computer screen or a reader, you’ll find that it’s merely a slightly different experience, one that you'll get used to in no time.
